Bespoke Control System for WA Gold Mine
ESI Tech Services successfully engineered and manufactured a bespoke control system for a blue-chip client’s gold mine operations in Western Australia. The team carried all aspects from design, manufacture, installation, testing and commissioning to ensure our client’s current and future production demands are met. Phosphate Mine Upgrade
ESI Tech Services are currently involved in the electrical upgrade to the existing plant on a phosphate mine for a client whose facility is located 350km south of Indonesia. The ESI Tech team are automating the existing systems from the ROM pad to the load out facility located at the port. This project includes installation of MCC switchboards, PLC’s, and SCADA Programming. The SCADA system allows the operators to control and keep an eye on what is happening all over the mine including operation of the equipment and product levels. Instrumentation engineering is a big part of this project. ESI Tech have been involved in the design, drafting and installation of both the electrical and instrumentation aspects of this project.
Cos Escape Tunnel
Our US-based client requested a report to investigate movement of tunnel walls in an escape tunnel at a gold mine in the southwest of Western Australia. Together with our sister company, ESI Alphatec, we were able to offer a complete solution. We provided both engineering and electrical services to install steel structural frames along the 80 metre length of the tunnel, relocated and upgraded tunnel lighting, and relocated the tunnel ventilation electrical supply to the fan motor. The project, resulting in many thousands of man hours and multiple trade disciplines, was completed without any safety incidents and met all client expectations.
Hazardous Area & Explosive Atmospheres
When our European-based client asked us to assist their team in loading out equipment to a remote site in Papua New Guinea we were able to support their Perth-based operation with all of their Hazardous Area EEHA inspection, reporting and dossier compilation. The extensive experience of our EEHA team ensured that all equipment met the required certification and that our clients received the support they needed to meet their targets.
Laser Alignment & Vibration Analysis
Together with our sister company, ESI Alphatec, and as part of our machinery installation and relocation service, we offered our local client who has offshore support vessels all over the Asia Pacific region our laser alignment and vibration analysis service. We replaced a failed coupling element and corrected a misalignment issue to a 1200Kw Cummins Generator. In a challenging work environment, we fitted in with their work schedule and performed the service at sea. We mobilised from Perth to Broome, travelled the 4km out to sea and back to port late at night via the crewboat, returning to Perth the following morning – without any disruption to their work schedule.
Semi Submersible Drill Rig
Responding to our UK-based client’s need for assistance with special project work to a semi submersible drilling rig at a shipyard location in Singapore, ESI Tech Services mobilised our technicians to the vessel en-route for the tow to Singapore to begin preparations for the proposed works. The ESI Tech team provided engineering support, drafting, specific monitoring equipment, materials, and personnel. The team has continued to take care of specific needs including maintenance cover, technical assistance, procurement, and hazardous area inspection and reporting.
Condition Monitoring & Analysis
Following an enquiry from a West Perth-based mining company regarding the implementation of a conditioning monitoring programme, ESI Tech Services worked with the client to develop a schedule which involved regular visits to the site to monitor the 200 items of rotating equipment including the SAG and BALL MILLS, utilizing our vibration analysis equipment. We provided our alignment and thermographic service to further support our findings in the field and help develop a picture of the condition of the plant. The data we collected was interpreted and built into a comprehensive report that our client was then able to use to develop a preventative maintenance programme.
